Rachel Derrick RVN NCert A&CC

Head Veterinary Nurse

Rachel been at Nine Mile for 4 years and has been head veterinary nurse for nearly 2 years. She has been nursing for 11 years and has achieved a nurseís certificate in anaesthesia and critical care. She especially enjoys medical nursing and has a 10 year old cat called Moo.


Claire Holland

Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse

Claire Holland is a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse and Clinical Coach. She is currently Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse of Nine Mile Veterinary Hospital and helps to organise the team. Claire has been nursing for 14 years, starting as a trainee at only 16 years old. She joined the Nine Mile Veterinary group in September 2015 after moving back to the area from Cheltenham. However, she used to work as a Locum with us a number of years ago. Claire also has a little scrappy Jack Russell Terrier X Dachshund called Pixie who is just lovely (though donít get her talking about her or she wonít shut up :) ).

Tracy Griffiths RVNTracy Griffiths

Tracy qualified in 1994, and has been working with us here at NMVH since 2011. Tracy works part time here and works weekends at our Emmview emergency clinic. She has special interests in feline and emergency medicine. When Tracy isnít here, she enjoys spending time with her young family and her cat Colin.

Becky Smee Bsc (Hons) RVN mBVNABecky Smee

Becky is a qualified nurse. She has been with the Nine Mile group since 2008 and has become a friendly face for many of our clients. Becky is also a clinical coach; it is her job to teach the student nurses and help them through their written and practical exams. She can often be seen with the trainee nurses going through different nursing techniques.

In her spare time Becky loves going to her exercise classes with friends and looking after her own cat at home called Lucy. She is very cute and playful!

Nicky Baker RVN

Nicky is originally from South Africa where she started her career with animals as a Nature Conservation Officer. Upon moving to the United Kingdom she worked as a Zoologist specialising in big cats and bears. It has been a lifelong ambition of hers to train and work as a veterinary nurse and it is fantastic to have fulfilled that dream and be a working as a qualified veterinary nurse at Nine Mile Veterinary Hospital. When not at work she is very involved in scuba diving, both technical and recreational as well as teaching diving. She has a little black and white moggy called Ollie who totally rules the house!

Emily RidgwayEmily Ridgway

Emily is hoping to gain her level 3 diploma in veterinary nursing.  At home she has a very naughty Tabby cat called Jen and a cheeky black Labrador called Bobby! She enjoys walking and exploring with him as well as socialising with her friends. She has an interest in charity work, and would love to travel around the world helping animals as she goes.. At nine mile she has a keen interest in radiography, surgery, anaesthesia and orthopaedics.

Abbi NelsonAbbi Nelson

Abbi is one of our Student Veterinary Nurses. She has been a member of Nine Mile since November 2014 but has experience from a previous veterinary practice. Abbi enjoys being on kennels where she can help with the progression of poorly animals and help to make them well again! She now has a cheeky sausage dog!

Rebecca Ferguson
Rebe is a Student Veterinary Nurse and has been with us since 2015. She is always keen to get stuck in and always has a smile on her face. At weekends she loves birdwatching and camping. Her favourite bird is the common chaffinch.

Abbi Campling

Abbi C is currently working at Nine Mile Veterinary Hospital as a trainee veterinary nurse. She has been working with us since May 2016 although has previous experience at another practice. She enjoys working alongside the qualified and student nurses to gain experience on anaesthetics and animal care. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two cats; Pickle and Pudding, her rabbit Fluffy, and her dog LuLu. She also enjoys playing netball for her team every Saturday.

Rachael Goodier

Rachael is a trainee Veterinary nurse. She started at Nine Mile in January 2016 but has worked for a few years at another veterinary practice. Rachael enjoys being in surgery and canít wait to start training so she can learn to scrub in and help with ops. She has three rats called Manny, Kenshin and Saito but would love to own an Irish Wolfhound one day. In her spare time she studies Martial arts and loves to run.
